Introduction

The following is a listing of useful internet sites that relate to the field of Special Education. As a student, with no practical teaching experience, I am asked to conduct projects or write papers on topics that I only know about through class. To give me a better feel for the world of Special Education I often search the Web for ideas, viewpoints, research, and any other information I may come upon relating to the field. I have composed a listing of some of the sites that I have found helpful.

• Special Education.org- this site is a must for people just getting into the special education field. It offers terminology and basic issues to help the novice understand the field better. http://www.Specialeducation.org
• Special Education Sites- this is a list that was compiled by a teacher of useful sites. This is a great place to find out what topics are out there and what sites host them. http://www.mhv.net/~karate/specialink.htm
• Special Education Network- Provides information to teachers, parents, and children that have been labled special education. The site offers information on employment, hot topics/ideas, and parent resources and information centers. http://www.Specialednet.com
• Special Education University of Kansas- provides a wonderful source of information for people interested in the field of Special Education. http://www.sped.ukans.edu
• Internet Special Education Resources- offers help for parents of special ed, ADD, and other special needs childeren in the form of assessment, alternatives, learningcenters, therapy, and advocacy. http://www.iser.com
• National Clearinghouse- gathers and organizes information for recruting and preparing people that are interested in working with people with disabilities. http://www.Specialednet.com

• Learning Disabilities Association- this site is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with learning disabilities. Offers research, education and advocacy. http://www.ldanatl.org
• LD online- this is one of the best sites on this topic. It is an interactive site for learning about learning disabilities. A must see. http://www.LDonline.org
• National Center for learning disabilities- offers information, facts, information, as well as organizations for learning disabilities. http://www.ncld.org/welcome.html
